I’m a recovering Secondary Infertility Blogger. I’ve been blogging since 2005 at a handful of different sites, but everything before moving to Mama Said is at Punch Drunk (http://ddko.wordpress.com). My blog posts have taken me from secondary infertility through the 3rd to the 5th pregnancy losses and as well as an unpleasant romp into infertility treatments, including:
- 4 IUIs (Intra-Uterine Insemination)
- 2 dIUIs (donor-sperm Intra-Uterine Insemination)
- 2 IVFs (In-Vitro Fertilization)
- 1 FET (Frozen Embryo Transfer)
- 1 DE (Donor Egg) which finally netted us what we had been looking for almost four years, a beautiful little girl born in 2008 and a sibling to my son who is 7 years older.
I knew my closer blogging friends would follow me here, and give those who just couldn’t emotionally invest anymore of themselves an easy out of a blog that rarely brought the IF monster into the light. As for me, I needed to put as much of the past behind me as I could. But sometimes I will still post about infertility and miscarriages.
I think I’m happier now. I was the blogger formally known by the first name D and the last name D. Now I’m Yo-yo Mama. My life seems to be endlessly spinning first up and then down. And while sometimes it just stalls, it’s never without drama. In fact, in October 2010 I had surgery to remove a Malignant Melanoma from my leg proving that cancer is indeed ugly.
My husband is Sparring Partner, a former East Coast Boy who’s now livin’ la vida loca in the armpit of the U.S.
Our son is Doodicus and teetering on the edge of puberty. He’s sensitive, exasperating, and smart. A child conceived pre-infertility. The year that our daughter was born, he was diganosed with ADHD. Every day we have to decipher what is “normal” boy attitude from what cannot truly be helped.
Our daughter, Aitch, has entered elementary school with a vengeance. Her bright blue eyes – a gift from her donor – are ever curious and mischievous. She’s incredibly clever, obviously her smarts come from the donor as well.
